…LOVED IT! Burned 367 calories in 38 min. Want to push myself even more next time.
So I’m on Day 3 of Insanity… I don’t know what to think yet. It is doable for me as far as the moves go, but I do have to stop often so I like that there are breaks. I like that I’m drenched in sweat… and I’m burning around 350 cal per workout which is way more than I was burning during Body Revolution (BR workouts are shorter and more resistance than cardio).
So I’m dumping Jillian Michaels… for two months.
I’m back up to 168 lbs. So that’s my starting weight for INSANITY!!
Today’s the first official workout, the Plyometric Cardio Circuit. I’m a
little very nervous but more excited than anything! I’m hoping this new routine will help me get into the 150’s. I will be following the meal plan. I’ve noticed it’s A LOT more protein than Jillian Michaels’ meal plan, which was mostly vegetables. I wonder whether that’s going to be a good or bad thing? I know the type of food I eat matters (I wasn’t losing weight eating 1200 cal of processed foods).. The REALLY GOOD THING is that all the meals are SO easy to prepare. The meals in the JMBR were so time consuming!!! So much chopping and cooking… and even though we ate the same meals for the whole 97 days, we could never put together a single meal without the recipe book.
I hope this works for me!
The whole week I didn’t have sugar, I wanted so badly to eat a granny smith apple…
I would’ve eaten it, too.
Fruits truly are nature’s candy.
This is the 4th week I’m at that weight, despite having started JMBR. The first time I did the kickstart week (no sugar or grains), I lost 9 lbs! This time I saw the scale go from 167.4 to 163.8… I don’t know if I did something wrong and that caused my weight gain or if it’s water…. Or what?
Either way, I KNOW I need to step it up because I am burning less calories doing JMBR than I was before. I took Insanity’s Fit Test and I did about as well as some of the results I saw thru a Tumblr tag.. I’m going to start Monday! Hopefully I can keep up with both :)
It feels so good to only have to press the up arrow on the ellipticals at the gym 3 times to get from the preset 150 lbs to 165. I remember having to press all the way up to 215.
Working out is such a mood/confidence booster! I am amazing, fabulous, strong and in control.
Last night, Zach and I talked about him trying a different workout program. Body Revolution was deigned for weight loss so it’s perfect for me, but he doesn’t need to lose any more weight.
We looked into Insanity, downloaded the meal plan and all the food is great! All the good stuff we already eat but easier to prepare. I want to do this with him! But… there are buts.
- I am not in great shape, obviously. I am barely able to keep up with Jillian Michaels Body Revolution
- I’ve been reading online that people gain weight or don’t lose
On the other hand,
- Even if I have to stop or modify an exercise, I will still burn more calories than I do now, which is ultimately what matters most
- I think those people who didn’t lose weight didn’t NEED to lose too much weight. I haven’t seen any reviews/blogs from people who are doing it and are overweight. I’m still overweight (woah, I just realized I’m only overweight by ~15 lbs now!)
Anyway, I won’t know until I try it!
You picked me!
It’s not my weigh-in day so it doesn’t feel “official,” but on Thursday, I weighed 165. That means……
I reached THE BIG 50! I was so happy all day. I’ve been weighing myself every day now just to see if it’s real hahah. It is so far!
I am about to do Cardio 1, so I am wearing my heart rate monitor. I looked down and saw my heart rate was 50!! I monitored it for a few minutes.. it bounces between 50-55 and spends most time at 52 (lying down) and 54 (sitting up) so I redid my target heart rate calculation. I use http://www.racedaynutrition.com/HeartRate.aspx because it has all the different formulas.
It’s so overwhelming, though! Because all the numbers are so different. When I was taking kinesiology courses, instructors would say that the Karvonen formula was most accurate, but I read in Shape and on this website that Inbar is.
Inbar = (205.8 - 0.685 * Age) * % of Max
Based on the results of study by Robergs, the general equation for maximum heart rate proposed by Inbar is the most accurate. Or, as Robergs says, the least inaccurate. Through extensive research into the details of 43 different maximum heart rate equations, Robergs concludes that all methods, including Age Adjusted and Karvonen (Heart Zones® was not studied), have error margins that are unacceptably large. However, he points out that the margin or error using the Inbar equation is the lowest at +-6.4bpm.
I guess I can do more research later.
- me: *does nothing*
- me: wow im so tired
- This is me lately : (
There’s no sugar in this week’s meal plan. At all.
And I am craving watermelon so badly.
Even an apple. A nice cold granny smith apple, sliced and sprinkled with cinnamon…… Oh god.
I cannot wait for Monday.
We spent Fourth of July at Zach’s family bbq. I’m happy to say I didn’t eat anything, even though I was totally eyeing this huge bowl of watermelon! (No fruit or sugar this week week). I had my celery & roasted almond butter snack, though :)
His grandma kept looking at me and during dinner, she said, “Man, you look SO beautiful.” I instantly blushed! Everyone likes a nice compliment :)
A friend asked me to make him lunch and then got all pissed when I wasn’t ready in 30 min. Uhhhhh, what? Has fast food made us all that impatient?
I weighed in for the Fab Fours challenge on MFP at 166! Woohoo back on track! Let’s do this!!!!!!!
I just Googled her, she’s gorgeous! That’s a huge compliment, thanks :)

I didn’t update my weight on Wednesday because it was a 2 lb gain. I know it’s a combination of things (water retention, extra snacks, not logging all my food on MyFitnessPal). I’ve feel feeling like I’ve failed all week, but you know what?! It’s just a small setback! I am still lighter than I’ve ever been… and I can tell I am losing inches because the jeans I bought two weeks ago fit so loosely that I have to constantly pull them up.
Oh oh and I had these pair of workout shorts in size M from college at my boyfriend’s because they wouldn’t go up past my thighs. He would wear them sometimes (LOL) and it’d just make me feel terrible!!! I tried them on last night and they totally fit. He says they’re too big now :)
Today is the last day of Body Revolution! Going to do our final measurements tomorrow. Beginning measurements for Round 2!
